Thank You Sir

Post-Christmas basketball is always fun to watch, and high school basketball games never cease to be interesting, especially when the commentator is sitting directly behind you. I was actually unaware that there was a commentator at the Hayden Christmas tournament, but there clearly was. The score was 49 to 46 and apparently if Hayden made the upcoming free throw, they would have "51 points." And here I thought it would be 50. To the disappointment of the loudest man in the world behind me, the scoreboard showed 50 after the made freethrow. (Freethrow=1 point) He continued to rock my eardrums while yelling obvious information, which made the game much more enjoyable. Just when I was having the time of my life listening to his voice, his team got a technical. I have never heard a human yell that loud for that long. Luckily, his team won and he clapped (loudly) and yelled for a good 10 minutes in celebration, and we celebrated the fact that his game was over and the fact that he would be exiting the premesis.

FINALS

Finals come around twice a year, and they are awful every single time. For some reason, this semester, I have decided to just not stress and/or study. The problem with this is I am now having a nervous breakdown because I have procrastinated so much. Also, if I hear a freshmen say their finals are hard, I WILL SCREAM. I try to encourage them all to enjoy this one year of freedom because it all goes down hill from here. Although I will cry if I don't get that 4.0, I am currently sitting on my bed eating applesauce and uploading pictures...not reading the book I have to do a report on. The lesson to be learned from this is to stay a freshman forever.

Just Another Manic Monday

Happy Monday. "You have to get through Monday to get through the rest of the week." A guy said this to me today and I found it very insiteful after having the day I had. Woke up late...as always. Went to drop the duty phone off at the Res Life office at 8 am. (My first class starts at 8 am.) I got several wild looks with my sopping wet hair and bowl of oatmeal in hand. As I sprinted to class, inhaling my oatmeal, I came to a horrifying realization: I FORGOT TO BRUSH MY TEETH. This has never happened to me before. I was horrified as I felt my rotten teeth in my mouth. Everyone was going to know. I felt disgusting. I chewed gum all day and brushed my teeth as soon as I got back to my dorm. I pray that this never happens again.

Always Somethin'

After studying all day, I went to eat Thanksgiving dinner with my sorority. After dinner was over, I found my leather Lucky brand bag with coke spilled all over it. Just my luck. The coke will not come out and I later found a sticker in my hair. Is this real? Do these things happen to other people? I then sat back and thought that worse things happen to other people and I am thankful to have a leather bag to get coke spilled on and hair to get a sticker stuck in.

That Time of Year

It's that time of year to eat as much as you weigh. Preparing for the Miss UNA pageant requires a fit body; therefore, eating chili cheese dogs at 3 am probably does not help to attain this. However, since I was up all night for no apparent reason, I was hungry. So, a friend of mine brought me a chili cheese dog, which I of course devoured. I should probably start getting serious about dieting. Maybe I will wait until after Thanksgiving. Just another day in my life.

Never Open Your Umbrella Inside- It Brings Bad Luck

So this week has been nothing out of the ordinary, just another week in the life of K Chap. It started out like every other week, late for class every day and late for everything else possible. One particular day, I woke up late for my test- I had 30 minutes to get ready and study before my exam. As I was applying mascara in hopes of making my frazzled self look somewhat decent, my power went out. I stood in the dark, mascara brush in hand, for approximately 30 seconds when I realized I had to hurry. I stepped outside where the light in the hall was still on and quickly finished my makeup. I returned to my bathroom and applied blush in the dark, hoping it was dispersed evenly. After putting clothes on in the dark, my lights came back on. I left with 5 minutes to get to my test. For once I was prepared for the rain. After being in college for a year and a half, I had finally purchased a new umbrella the previous day. As I opened my umbrella and began to walk, it broke and flipped upside down. I sat the open umbrella down in class as everyone stared. After my test, I proceeded to walk back outside with my upside down umbrella when a girl asked, "Kaitlin, why is your umbrella upside down?" Thinking to myself, "Oh I just wanted to be different," I told her it had broken. She proceeded to ask me why I had not tried to fix it. Again thinking to myself, "I obviously attempted to fix it right away," I told her I tried. The wind then blew the umbrella back down only to blow it back up an hour later. As I strolled to class giggling under my upside down umbrella, the students that passed me definitely got a good laugh out of my silly luck. Needless to say, leaving an umbrella open inside must indeed bring bad luck.
